The design of an original and innovative plastic electronics enclosure, on wheels

The conception, development and creation of a plastic electronics enclosure for a company based in Matera put us to the test with a large-sized product, once again proposing original solutions that impressed the customer favorably.

For a company that we can consider a leader in Italy for the supply of local or remote monitoring software and tools for hospital departments of Nephrology and Dialysis, we have manufactured an exclusive large-sized, wheeled, plastic electronics enclosure.

«This company from Matera» says Mr. Alessandro Vignaga, CEO and Sales Manager of MCS, «find us through one of their suppliers. The deepening of some works that we had already carried out, combined with the supplier’s reference, made us gain the customer’s trust for the realization of their project.

It was an enclosure for a video surveillance device used in the context of medical remote assistance. There was already a prototype made by one of our competitors, a company that is currently closed due to ceased activity.

A high-resolution video camera is installed in this device to monitor the patient undergoing dialysis: the doctor can remotely monitor several patients from his computer. A system that can be applied in both home and hospital settings. A particular and niche product, made in batches of up to 10 pieces at a time».

«Once again we have accepted the project presented, reworking it completely» continues Alessandro Vignaga.

«We proposed to the customer a constructive form and a design that were totally different from the competitor’s first prototype.

The primary reasons are three:

  1. solve problems related to the instability and robustness of the previous enclosure;
  2. adapt the necessary processes to our internal processes;
  3. put our signature on the design of the object, developing and proposing something more refined and captivating.

We faced the project as an interesting challenge because we were dealing with a product whose sizes were a bit out of standard at the time: the device, weighing about 25 kg, has a height of 95 cm closed and 180 cm open.

The development operations were a complex task: the project ended up involving us more than we had budgeted, not only in relation to the design proposal, but also for the design of the mechanical components necessary for the movement of the reclining arm. In the product sheet of our website you can find further technical details».

«However, from the very first renders presented, the client accepted the proposal, appreciating our proactivity and the “creative approach” with which we had tackled the problem.

The element that particularly struck the customer was the chamber support arm, which can be reclined to compact the machine, obtaining both an aesthetic and “logistic” advantage, because it facilitates its transport”.

«Our client was therefore very happy with the final result and, as far as I know, he also received positive feedback from his own customers on the design and excellent functionality of the device. Furthermore, the sales network often improves its performance because it is more incentivized to offer original and innovative products to potential customers.

It was therefore a very significant work for two aspects: on the one hand for the specific characteristics of the product, on the other because a collaboration was born that still lasts today».
